Private messaging that belongs to everyone.
OM is a fast, uncluttered, open-source messenger with strong end-to-end encryption — designed so that no single company, server, or app store is indispensable.

That’s it? 🙂
Why “OM”
One short name, six promises.
-
Open-source Messenger
A gift to humanity, in the tradition of open commons like Git and Linux: usable, forkable and improvable by anyone.
-
Open Messenger
Not a walled garden. Independent apps can speak the public protocol without asking permission.
-
Own Messenger
Make it yours — identity, infrastructure, app, themes and extensions — with no central OM account required.
-
Our Messenger
Built for people who gather: families, friends, teams and communities, with their own spaces, roles and rules.
-
One Messenger
Grows through interoperable extensions, so you don’t need a new app every time a group wants a new feature.
-
Oh Messenger
Approachable, lively and human. The engineering stays under the hood; you just get a pleasant messenger.
How it stays free
Stewarded, not owned.
SeedLife stewards the project, but nobody — not SeedLife, not its founder, not any future steward — gets the right to make your conversations depend on them.
If the original authors, the website, or any company behind a server disappeared, people already talking on OM should be able to keep talking.
Commercial participation is welcome; protocol privilege is not.
Where it’s at
The architecture is being designed now.
There’s no app, code, or sign-up yet. Follow SeedLife to hear when that changes.
